lilinghan8 is on a distinguished road

I installed openfoam210 for Ubuntu from its official website. I now want to edit a solver but i cannot make any changes in openfoam210. It is installed in file system/opt/Openfoam210.It seems that I am not the owner so that it is not allowed me to do these.

Anyone know how to deal with this problem or this is not the right way to modity solver?

Greetings lilinghan8,

See this tutorial:

The key detail is this:
Now go into the Make subdirectory and open the 'files' file with your favorite editor. Change it to read:

EXE = $(FOAM_USER_APPBIN)/my_icoFoam
Best regards,
