Hello foamers!
I would like to create a structure shown in image below attached. What ideas can you offer? Is there a way that I could just make one large block, then define smaller block inside the larger and somehow tell that smaller block actually is a hole? |

Hi,
this can be done with snappyHexMesh http://www.openfoam.org/docs/user/sn...#x26-1510005.4 the empty box is your STL-file the outer box is a Blockmesh-file |

Oh, I was thinking about this, but I won't have any stl file. I can't make them since I don't have proper program. It is true, that I can get stl from some kind of design program like AutoCAD or similar?

Greetings to all!
You can always use Blender. Here is a very nice tutorial for an older version of Blender: http://engits.eu/wiki/index.php/Tuto...der_and_enGrid - it also explains how to use an older version of enGrid as well, which is a mesh generator (and more) that can work with OpenFOAM ![]() If you browse that wiki, you should find more information about the latest version of enGrid, in case you are interested. Other than Blender, there are several free and open source 3D CAD applications out there! FreeCAD, QCAD, Google Sketch Up, just to name a few. Best regards, Bruno

Hi,
Bruno is right you can get STL-files from many Programs. Google Sketchup might do it as well Salome can create STL and/or meshes can be imported via UNV ideasUnvToFoam ( http://www.caelinux.org/wiki/index.p...ELinux_2007.29 )or directly from pythonflu |
