Hi all,
I am new for paraview, and thank in advance for all kinds of help.
My question : I am doing the visualization of a wheel rotating on the road, and want to do some marks (e.g line, circle...) on the wheel so that we can see the wheel is rotating but not just moving on the road. But I do not know how to do it. Please help me.

Hi

You can add many objects (e.g. line, sphere, etc) to your visualization by using the sources drop-down menu.

Edit: Sorry it seems I missunderstood your question. I think after adding the source you need to open the animation view and edit the object for time or consider writing a python script.

Regards

Sorry, maybe I did not describe the question clearly. I mean I want to mark something on the wheel which can also move with the wheel, i.e they move together, so that we can see the wheel is rotate on the road but not slither. Thanks.

Hi

I don't know how to do this the "right" way, but I have a suggestion.
1. make a calculator filter that calculates a field based on the coodinates (e.g. coordsX)
2. select to view the result from this filter (just like any other field)
3. manipulate the color map to yield two colors one of them will be for a slice of the wheel and the other will be for the rest (rescale range from the desired x "end of slice" and another preceeding number that is very close)
4. run animation

Nevertheless, I am sure there is a more "humane" method

Regards

Create a separate mesh file with spokes or rims in it.

Chances are you generally use the same sized wheel repeatedly, so you can re-use the same rims for multiple simulations.

Or create a separate mesh with a single vertex at one spot on the wheel, and render this vertex with a glyph of your choosing (sphere).
