Load csv data

Hi everyone,

I'm new to paraview. I'm trying to import some results in order to create some streams lines.

I succeded to import a csv file with all my points (x,y,z + values ), then I created a vector field with the scalar velocity x-value, y-value and z-value. I displayed correctly the magnitude of my velocity vector field.

But when i try to create the streams lines, nothing is created. I don't know why. Maybe paraview needs a mesh to create the streams lines ??

My paraview installation is fine as i can create streams lines with the paraview examples files.

Thanks for your help.

Greetings alexv_cfd and welcome to the forum!

I Googled:
Code:

paraview csv to streamlines
And the first hit I got was this: http://www.paraview.org/pipermail/pa...ly/018201.html

The issue is that ParaView regards your data as a bunch of points in empty space. When the stream tracer looks at the empty space, it sees no field and terminates the streamline.

To see streamlines, you need a topology that interpolates field values around the points. The easiest way to do that is to apply the Delaunay 3D filter to your data (or the Delaunay 2D if your points are on a plane).
Best regards,
Bruno
