Get local values on a point

Hi,

In Paraview I'm trying to get the local value of the physical properties on a certain point of the domain.
For example I need the static pressure on a certain point (the static pressure probe of an aircraft).
How can I do that, I didn't succeed with the "Probe" and "Plot data" tool. That seems pretty easy to do in theory but I couldn't do that.

Also, for the angle of attack probe do you know if it's possible to plot the local angle of attack on a certain point ?

Thanks
Charles

Up, no idea guys ?

Greetings Charles,

I haven't tried answering sooner, because I'm having a hard time visualizing what you're working with and what exactly do you need to calculate or visualize.

So my questions for you are:
  1. You're looking for the static pressure... is it already calculated?
  2. .. Or are you looking for the zone where the pressure the pressure transitions? Because at least the "Contours" filter should help.
  3. Quote:

Also, for the angle of attack probe do you know if it's possible to plot the local angle of attack on a certain point ?
Can you elaborate on this one? I only know the very basics on this one, and my understanding is that the angle of attack is defined before you start the simulation...
Best regards,
Bruno

Hi and thanks for your answer.

I'm looking for the static pressure on a precise location. Indeed the contours will get me a rough idea but I am willing to be more precise than that. The ideal would be to plot the coordinates of the point on my CAD software and enter that in Paraview but I don't know if it's possible.

For the angle of attack, I want to get the local value like the one that is measured with this probe: http://www.lindenhillimports.com/images/photof48.jpg

Hi Charles,

Have a look at the following thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/par...tml#post405615 - you might get some ideas on what you can do with ParaView.

Best regards,
Bruno
