Hi all,

i want to set up a PV-Server on my cluster but I have a doubt about the following sentence:
Code:
use the OSMesa solution if and only if your server hardware does not have rendering hardware

My cluster has an onboard grafic card but that is not build for rendering:
Code:
Matrox G200 16MB DDR2
I have to laugh about DDR2 and 16MB. So I think I can set up my pv server without doubts or what do you think?

Regards tobi

Unless you're planning on getting a considerably powerful graphics card for the master node in the cluster, it does look like you don't have any other choice than to build with OSMesa support.

Best regards,
Bruno

Hi Bruno,

thanks for your replay.
I installed OSMesa from deb files and compiled ccmake. At the moment I am compiling paraview (hope with the correct settings). How can I check if everything is working well after compiling?

I think that pvserver will complain if you try to use the "--use-offscreen-rendering" argument and if the OSMesa feature is not working as intended.

Hi Bruno,

thanks for your replay but first I have to set up my paraview correct. There were one error while compiling pv. Have to investigate more time to that. Maybe I will compile OSMesa too but there are some packages missing hence I installed them. Well I will keep you posted.
