Is multivolume rendering possible?

I am trying to render two intersecting but separate items (one image data the other a 3D flow simulation), but it seems Paraview is only capable of rendering one. These items should intersect, and it should look like the volume render of the flow data is embedded inside the image data, but whichever item is last in the pipeline browser is rendered above all other layers so the flow data just looks like it's in front of the image data. When I render my 3D simulation geometry with surfaces things look as they should. Is there any way to volume render two items so they respect each other?
