Hello, sorry if it is a repost but it is a doubt that I never figured it out.

While using stream lines I've have the option to generate a point source or a line. I see a custom option is also available. Now if I need my source to be a surface like a inlet I think I can use custom option but I never understood how to extract my inlet surface or select it to be my source. Can any body help?

Quick answer:
Without knowing what is the format your inlet is coming in from, it's hard to detail what to do.

If it's OpenFOAM:
  1. You will need to open the case file a second time and in this second one choose to only load the respective patch, instead of the "internalMesh".
  2. Then select the first file in the "Pipeline Browser" and use the filter "Stream Tracer with Custom Source". It then asks the entries for "Source" and "Input", but I always get the two confused... try the two possible combinations to confirm which works.
Note: The data that is used is only the points of the mesh, it does not use any other data. If you want the centres of the faces, first apply the filter "Cell Centers"; it's then this entry on the pipeline that has to be chosen in second.
