I need to know how to implement (tutorial step by step): a) Stress in Solids b) Gentra

I have read extensivly POLIS, but it's doesn't show you how, it only show the cases, and even though you can't see the q1 files used.

for a) case Where can I set Poisson coef., stiffness, thermic expansion coef.? IN GROUP 19? with SPEDAT? It is posible to set properties depending on temperature (linear,non-linear,etc)? I have seen it in case 124. We have a case with composite material, that is in a High temperature media, like a furnace. Can we set new properties to this new material?

b) I don't have a clue. In POLIS says that is a menu in SATELLITE where I cant do it, because I loss the configuration made to q1 by the VRmenu. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

At present the VR-Editor does not support GENTRA, and so for the time being cases must be set up using Satellite. The latter does have a Menu for GENTRA, which is documented in 'The GENTRA User Guide', CHAM Report TR/211.

I have the same problem! In the PHOENICS libratery case and the example cases, it only show the cases itself and the result, most q1 files can't be seen or can't be loaded into the VR environment, or can't be run correctly. Most program reports about q1 and groud.for files should be ordered from CHAM .

Maybe it is the PHOENICS sale strategy, PHOENICS should have increased the price of software and provided the help documentation as posible as complete.

I know that VR-Editor doesn't support GENTRA, but I really want an especific answer to the many questions that I have done in the first message.

I agree, there appear to be no tutorials on Gentra. I will be creating some shortly for inclusion in the PHOENICS Documentation.

is not entirely clear, but I will try to answer again based on my best interpretation.

VR does not support GENTRA, which means not only is there no means of introducing GENTRA features, but also that VR has not been designed to interpret any existing GENTRA settings in the Q1. Therefore, if you load a Q1 containing GENTRA PIL settings into the VR Editor, then many if not all of these settings will be lost.

The practice at CHAM is to use Satellite rather than VR when using GENTRA. If you want to ensure that control remains in Satellite when loading the front end, then put start_in_vr=off in the cham.ini file (in the directory phoenics/d_allpro or use a copy in your local directory).

I think it may be possible to combine VR and GENTRA PIL settings, by putting the latter after the STOP statement in the VR Q1 file. All settings except those related to GENTRA can be made in VR and a copy of this VR Q1 saved. Then use the Satellite GENTRA Menu to create a Q1 containing the GENTRA settings. These settings should then be placed after the STOP statement in the VR Q1 file. VR will not modify any settings after the STOP, and so the resulting Q1 should be usable in respect of GENTRA. However, this procedure has never been attempted for GENTRA problems, so I cannot guarantee success.

The inclusion of the GENTRA Menu into VR is in CHAM's Development Plan, but it will not be available even in the next release of PHOENICS, i.e. V3.4.

Thanks Mike - I am glad to hear that VR will support GENTRA in future versions. In my combustion research it will be important.
