A bout scalar advection equation in SEM
In case of scalar eqution method (SEM), the equation of scalar advection is:
d(PHI)/dt + div(PHI*U)=0 This equation gives us values of PHI. 1 what is the relation between the variable PHI and the volume fraction of liquid VFOL? 2 what is a bout the variable SURN ? Best regards. Applied Mathematics Laboratory, National Engineering School of Tunisia
Re: A bout scalar advection equation in SEM
Dear Medhi
d(PHI)/dt + div(PHI*U)=0 is the general scalar convection equation. In SEM this equation is applied to the variable SURN. Thats why you should "solve" it from Q1 file. The variable VFOL stores the values of SURN at the beggining of time step (as PHOENICS reference shows) and it is also used to consider inlet density to satisfy continuity equation in volume conservation form (GALA=T). There are more details you should see in POLIS pages and into the references there are mentioned. Nevertheless, we can keep in touch here if you need more help. Regards Kike
