Default Colors & DXF format in Phoenics. HELP

Hi all,

I 'm trying to put in Phoenics a 3D model of a football stadium that I created in Autocad 2000. The stadium consists of 3 major 3D objects. I want to put them in Phoenics in order to study the air flow around and inside the stadium.

The problem is that I can't put these objects in Phoenics using the DXF format. The steps I followed :

1. Put the objects in positive xyz.

2. Run the command "dxfout" , ascii, select objects

3. I have then 3 files , up_diazoma.dxf, down_diazoma.dxf and field.dxf

4. I open Phoenics and select New object from Cad and then dxf format.

5. Finally I select one of those 3 dxf files and Phoenics seems to convert them in dat format....

But when I try to see them inside the main window of Phoenics there is nothing. Also when I open (with notepad) the DAT files that Phoenics has created from my DXFs they have only two lines with the number 0 !!!!!!!

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE? CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN TO ME THIS PROBLEM....IF SO I CAN SEND YOU MY FILES TO TEST THEM.

SO I tryied the alternative format (STL).... With STL all works fine , but I want to change the color of the 3 objects in Phoenics....(E.X. The field=green, up_diazoma=gray etc.)..

How can I do this ?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have had the same problem with the dxf system and found that the stl format to be more reliable. I do not know why.

Colors: I found that setting the colors in ACAd the best option, faling this change the geometry file to one of the predifend cube files, they are different colours, read up on how to create a geomert file- this may give some better tips.

I hope this helps

you can try like this: 1.type in the command--"stlout" after you finish your drawing. 2.CAD will ask you if you want to save as a binary format files.answer no 3.Add in stl format files in phoenics everiment, and select OK for other question. 4.select "object" ,then "default" ,then"fromstl" folder.

Then all is ok.

Welcome you to contact with me for more details. Good luck.
