Default Version 3.4 Problem?

It seems to me that with VR-Editor, in version 3.3 I used to copy the following 4 files (after a run terminated) to a new directory and could set that new directory as the working directory and do a restart run from there or run VR-viewer from the new directory. Now it is not so. The 4 files I refer to are myfile.q1, myfile.res, myfile.phi, and myfile.pat. Now I can no longer use VR-viewer nor do a restart run with just these files.

Patti,

This 'may' be similar to the problem I experienced with saving and hence re-starting runs.

The thread starts with 'Don't get a phi file' and you were kind enough to try to help me.

For me it was a working directory problem which 'may' also be what is giving you problems.

Hope this helps.

Mark

Thank you very much, Mark. I tried changing working directory and it gives me an error about "direct access to the phi file" and I tried using the default and user-defined file names (that whole menu is new!) - and I get errors. Eventually VR-Editor just crashed. I will try again and be more careful. I am not sure I like the way the new VR-Editor works (the v3.3 one was more than adequate) - but there may be new parts of it I just haven't used yet. - PattiMichelle

Well, I tried it again - Without changing the working directory I did this:

I ended a run (End Run) and saved it as a case. Then I saved it again in the same working diretory but as a different case name (so I could do a restart run whilst still saving the original run). VR-Viewer now reports an error (sequential access?? Direct access? What do these mean??) and I can view NIETHER file with VR Viewer now! This sounds like a bug... CHAM may have been trying to extend VR-Viewer somehow - but now I am getting runs I can't read - and I can't do restart runs either: earth won't do it, saying: Error STop - CHeck Data.
