Default visibility level vs smoke

I am modelling a fire in a room using FLAIR module. Could anyone please tell me how can I convert a SMOK value into a visibility index (any system is acceptable,ie. visibility within certain distance). For instance, if I set SMOK value of 1.0 at the fire, SMOK values of plume or smoke layer inside the room are less than 1.0. Any information on any website will be greatly appreciated.
