Help (Roughness)

Hi,
I am working on flow and sedimentation transport of a river using Geogrid and Phoenics. Currently I need to estimate the shear stress from Phoenics. Now On site I was having the downstream of my study reach to have a D50 of 20mm and Upstream of study had a D50 of 40mm. I was using Body fitted Coordinate imported from Geogrid to Phoenics. To incorporate my roughness into my simulation I specified a global Wall rougness of 0.03. But I found out that My shear Stress distribution was very low to cause bedload transport. I don't know if anyone has an ideal of how to help incorporate the different roughness in my BFC because this is having a great impact on both the flow field and the shear stress distribution. Thanks George |

Hi,
:> I don't know if anyone has an ideal of how to help incorporate the different roughness in my BFC because this is having a great impact on both the flow field and the shear stress distribution Could you not try setting up patches for each of the regions of your walls where you want different roughness values ? PATCH(NAME,WWALL,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.) SPEDAT(SET,ROUGHNESS,NAME,R,0.001) COVAL(NAME,U1,GRND2,0.0); etc. |

Did you model your river bed using PHOENICS?

Hi George
if you ever managed to model your river bed please let me know because I also want to model sediment transport using PHOENICS pls email me at sk2307@yahoo.com thanks steve |
