potential temperature
 
Hello, I wonder if there is a possibility to calculate the potential temperature instead of the normal temperature? And if there is, what has to be taken into account?

Hi Catherine, If you use INFORM then you can easily calculate the potential temperature and tie it back into the rest of the simulations.

Hi Alan, you mean I should just set my potential temperature as TEM1 by INFORM and then TEM1 is taken as potential temperature or you mean I should calculate the potential temperature from TEM1 and the pressure and let TEM1 be the normal temperature? Have you once used potential temperature in your calculations? Catherine

The second one is easiest, but both will do the same depending on your version...I did use the potential temperature for some fluid-structure interactions.

Is there any possbililty to calculate the potential temperature, what has to be taken in to account ? Please let me know..

I would advise using TEM1 to solve the energy conservation equation in terms of the potential temperature, and then deduce the actual temperature from the potential temperature when computing the density from the equation of state. The INFORM facility can readily be used to implement in PHOENICS the computation of both the potential temperature and density.
