PHI residual (using the old or new value ?)

Dear all,

I'm wondering when Phoenics compute the residual (of each transported variable) in each cell which is stored in PHI file. Is it at the beginning of iteration/sweep (using the old value from previous iteration) or at the end (using the new corrected value) ?

Regards,

Noel

Re: PHI residual (using the old or new value ?)

The residuals are computed during the assembly of the finite volume equations for any given variable on the current sweep. In this sense they are based on old iterate values. They may be accessed by using the INFORM facility so as to elicit whole-field storage and printout of the cellwise residual errors for each solved variable. Likewise. The corrections to the solved variables can also be stored and printed by use of the INFORM facility.
