Hello Everyone,

does anyone have any experience in, including "digital terrain model" in PHOENICS simulation domain?

I am performing wind study of a power plant which is situated in the complex topographical location with lots of mountains, hence i would like to include the digital terrain model of that location in PHOENICS to simulate the effect of mountains in the wind study.

Please let us share information regarding this.

Thank you!

It depends what resolution you require. I am working on a porosity approach developed by my supervisors which can read an elevation.dat file and block out the appropriate areas by setting the porosity of those cells to 0.

This works very well I find. Alternatively individual objects can be put into the domain but this can be tedious.

..using global mapper and then import the stl file in as an object

thanks for the replies guys!

however im still looking for the place or organisation where one can get that elevation dat file

R2DM.. where do you get your elevation data from? which global mapper software do you use? Any information regarding that would be very helpful.

Many thanks!

I've added a feature to River2D Morphology (my program) that can create STL files of digital elevation data. If you send me your DTM I can create an STL file for you. You can usually get DTM data from USGS for USA.

Hi can you please tell me how to export a stl file from the River2DM model? I've contructed a virtual topography with boundary defined and meshed (no blue dotted breakline appears though). I exported a cdg file from R2D Mesh and imported it into R2DM, and found that there is no export function. So how can I construct a stl out of R2DM?
