Pointwise can import meshes from NASTRAN files so maybe you can export from ABAQUS to NASTRAN.

What type of mesh is it?

ABAQUS export nastran file in .bdf format but pointwise import .nas file.
the type of mesh is hex. but it can be tri also.... what i want is similar surface mesh for both abaqus and pointwise....

i have tried to read abaqus file in fluent and then export fluet file in .cas format. then i read the .cas file in icemcfd and created .cgns format for mesh. but when i import cgns (or other format like .wrl, .VRML etc) in pointwise it does not import the faces correctly....

any idea how to get this done!

Can ABAQUS export just the surface meshes to STL or VRML format?

One of the challenges will be the fact that Pointwise only likes mapped quads (i.e. structured grid). So if you give it a file containing hexes or quads that's an unstructured format (like NASTRAN) it may diagonalize the quads and import them as triangles.
