In Pointwise I want to copy all the layers (not any geometry) from one file to another -the same numbers and description. How can I do that ?

Try this:

1) File / Open the file with the layers you want to copy.
2) CAE / Set Boundary Conditions... delete all BCs*.
3) CAE / Set Volume Conditions... delete all VCs*.
4) View / Show Hidden
5) Go to the Layers panel and click the All On button.
6) Select all DB and grid ents and delete.

File should be empty now except for layers.

7) File / Save as... LayersOnly.pw
8) File / Open (Replace) file into which you want to import the layers.
9) File / Open (Merge) LayersOnly.pw

If you need to do this frequently, you should write a script.

* If you want to transfer the BCs and VCs, do not delete them.

The names are still there.

They are hidden because the Show Empty Layers box is not checked.
