Hi,
I made my first 3D mesh of wing, and I am trying to export CAE for OpenFOAM but without success. First time i tried with Combine anisotropic tetrahedra option checked and I got message but the mesh is not exported to this folder: Info: Recombining anisotropic tetrahedral cells for this export. Info: exported CAE file D:\Wingmesh Second time I tried with without option Combine anisotropic tetrahedra and got message but again mesh is not exported to this folder: Error: (0) Out of memory! Info: exported CAE file D:\Wingmesh Does anybody know what can be a problem? Thanks! |

Hello,
Looking at the image, your grid is in the tens of millions of cell range. My guess is you've run out of memory on export. It turns out that due to the nature of the OpenFOAM plugin in Pointwise, it takes more memory to export the grid than to generate it. You can track the memory usage on your computer to confirm that's the case. Just curious, how much memory do you have and how big is the grid? Travis |

Hello Travis,
thanks for the quick reply! The problem is solved. I have 10GB memory,Windows 7 (64 bit), and the grid has ten millions of cells with farfield radius of 200 chords. I've been trying to do export in PointwiseV17.0 (32 bit), now I tried to export in PointwiseV17.2R2 (64 bit) and it worked. Josip |

Hi everybody,
I have an issue when I try to do a parallel run in openFoam on a grid that is generated in Pointwise. So, I export my mesh to openFoam and then I run "renumberMesh -overwrite" and then "decomposePar" which works fine, then "mpirun -np 4 simpleFoam -parallel". But openFoam runs in serial!!! If I run it in serial or in parallel with 4 processors I get the same speed up. I ran the damnBreak tutorial of the openFOAM with "blockMesh", "decomposePar" and "mpirun -np 4 interFoam -parallel" and it worked just fine. That's why I'm suspecting that the issue might be with the exported grid. Does anybody had this problem before? |
