You need a new solver in this case.
Try to combine simpleFoam and rhoPorousSimpleFoam.
If you are not able to do that, I can send you my own solver called porousSimpleFoam.

1.I don't think, the compilation is needed, try to run tutorial examples from the rhoImplicitPorousSimpleFoam - directory. If it works, it don't have to be compiled.

Hi,
1.You can`t solve a porous case with simpleFoam. You should use something like rhoImplicitPorousSimpleFoam.
2.You need cellSets and cellZones to define the geometrie of the porous zone inside...
