Time scale factor is used by the solver to march towards a solution. It is part of the numerical method. The residual is a measure of the accuracy of the solution of the equations.

I would not fiddle those factors unless you know exactly what they mean. The constants in the turbulence models are set by people a lot smarter than me so I don't like to change them.

Almost...

The accuracy of the numerical discretisation is...

The accuracy of the numerical discretisation is reduced, and numerical instability increases.

That is problem dependent. You will have to find out for yourself on your simulation.

To fix this add additional prism layers until the transition is good. This results in large grids - but that's CFD for you.

Yes, that is the way to go.

Why do you say you are well converged? Residuals of 1e-4 is loose convergence in many cases. You may need to converge tighter. Have you looked at...

What I mean by fluid time scale is the time taken for the fluid to go from the inlet to the outlet. So if you fluid time scale is of the order of 1e-4s then you should be able to run physical time...

Not necessarily. But it can be.

Why do you say this? I can't see a justification for this.

For a steady run, once the residuals are converging nicely you should increase the physical...

In the release notes for V12.0 or V12.1 it should describe a method to turn this feature off and revert the previous behaviour. Is this what you are doing to obtain convergence?

I see. Do I understand you correctly in that you have assumed a frozen rotor approach, so does not include transient flow effects or blade passing effects in a complete fashion.

Often the turbulence transition model needs a transient approach to get convergence. Did you run transient?

And are you sure of things like surface roughness, inlet turbulence levels and things...
