i guess..your colormap is in exponential...

i guess..your colormap is in exponential form..you need to change it to float with a 2 precision..

Assuming that you are calculating the temperature...

Assuming that you are calculating the temperature contour, uncheck auto range, global range and clip to range. specify 999k as min and 1000 as max..in levels specify 20. you should be able to get...
