By upgrading your system, I meant to install a newer library glibc. Though, this is not trivial so maybe you will find easier to install a newer successor of RedHat 8: Fedora Core 5 perhaps.

Try to see if your compilation produced a proper executable:
ldd $(which FoamXHostBrowser)
It should not give you any "not found"...

Did you first install the sources and then the binaries?
If you did it the other way around it might cause you troubles.
