- did you compile paraview yourself (I did)
- which build type did you compile? The standard release build uses -O3 optimization, which is for some reason too aggressive...

binutils-2.16.91.0.2-8.4

man demangle might also tell you something.

I have just done a compilation of OpenFOAM-1.3 on an older Suse-9.1 system and the issue I've found is so amusing that I wanted to share it (somebody may hit it in the future). :-)
