Hi Ali,

I'm only guessing here, but I think it's to avoid situations like these:

What is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything?
42.
But more seriously: haven't you ever had a situation where "yes" or "no" wasn't a satisfying answer?

Best regards
Bruno

Well yes it can happens,
please, look at this thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...m-meshing.html

I had to say just yes, because the step are already explained by FAR (another user)... it was a yes or no question...

Ah, post #9... Actually, that sort-of proves my point! You wanted to answer "yes" for only the second question, which would automatically answer the first one.
But by answering only "yes", it takes a little while longer to verify what you actually would have meant by simply saying "yes"! ;) This way, it's clearer what you mean!

:D understood. But sometimes it takes a moment to stop and think of what to add after the yes, putting something elegant for the speaker whom i'm talking to. I'm a busy man
Just kidding. Anyway... i will keep doing this....

We are using the default setting from vBulletin. Thousands of different forums are using vBulletin and I think that they have a good reason to have this minimum length setting.

I still answer with yes or no by adding ten dots for no and nine dots for yes (12 characters minimum )

yes.........
no..........

The forum can be viewed in different formats (linear, threaded or hybrid). You can not be certain that it is always easy to see what question you are responding to. It is good practice to write complete answers that can be understood without reading the complete question.
