is there a way to include "too short" or "too long" words into search engine???

Cheers

The minimum search word length is currently set to 3 and the maximum search word length is set to 20. We can change this setting. By default the forum software has a minimum length of 4 and we reduced this to 3 to make it possible to search for the 3-letter acronyms that are so common in CFD.

Decreasing the min length and increasing the max length will increase the size of the forum database and make the forum a bit slower. We want to keep these limits just right, so that visitors can search for most things they are interested in but not larger than necessary.

Do you want to search for words longer than 20 or shorter than 3 letters?

Hi,

thanks for your reply. That sounds senseful.... Its just when searching for things like "k" or "nu" or "linearValveLayersBouyantBoussinesqFunnyFoam". ..

Sorry to wake an old thread, but I have to agree with marico. The search function on this page can be quite frustrating. For instance, my search for:

createCoalParcelTypes no such file

to see if someone got the same error message resulted in every word but "file" being removed... I'd say setting the limit to two character length words would be better, but maybe that's just me. Also, the "too common" thing should be removed when those words are used in conjunction with less common words.

As a temporary solution, have you tried using google to search cfd-online?

(in this instance, it only returns this thread)
