Importing data points
 
Does anyone know if it's possible (and how to) import a set of data points into Star CCM+ from a table? Looking to import over 100,000 points if possible into my geometry

What do you want to do with the 'points'? Are you trying to create a surface geometry? Or maybe a series of probes?

Yes, it's a set of coordinate points that I want to create as a series of probe points

I think you will have to create a macro to do this. Shouldnt be too complicated. You can record yourself making a single point probe, and then modify it from there. Either read in a CSV with your points, or read them from an already imported table.

Depending the specifics of the application, it may be easier to create a series of points in a CAD program and then save them as an .stl file. You can then import this as an "arbitrary probe."

You can also use the element count and sum reports in combination to easily create an average of any function monitored at the set of probes.

Thanks, I didn't know about "Arbitrary probe". Seems like it could be quite powerful. Are STL files capable of being just points though? Thought STLs were surface based. If he has 100,000 points, not sure if a surface will describe them.
