Irregular mesh
 

Hi,
I am very new to CFD and I am trying to just make a domain and generate waves in this domain. So when I try to make a mesh, it looks kind of weird.
Why does spots with higher density of cells occur at random places, as seen in attached picture.

I guess there's a simple setting or something I haven't checked.

Can you check the surface growth rate? ref below

Hmm before going to the volume mesh, can you show us the surface mesh /intial surface of the domain? (make sure the mesh if on to be seen)
I suspect there is something not righ even with the surface mesh / initial surface

You can try to check these values,

* Surface curvature (reduce the default value - this put more less points around the circle)
* Surface size (increase the cell size - increase the minimum triangle size)

and can you show geometry screen?

i think geometry have some circular feature edges on the extensive areas like a point,
and i think some close proximity detail in extensive meshed line..
