Hi all,

I was trying to create a field function to define the static pressure of a body in free surface. I have no syntax errors in my definition but i am not able to define the dimension at all.
I read in the manual that is it is a read only function. How do i change it to the unit of pressure? I have to create a surface integral report to get the force. If my field function is dimensionless the surface integral unit is m^2.

I even tried to create a new unit but when i define the dimensions there, again there is no change.

Can you please tell me where I am going wrong? Please help.

Regards
Arun

If you go to Tools>Field Function
And then check your UDF below type you can change your dimension (Force, Area, etc)

I have tried doing that but it would not change. It still remains dimensionless.I am not sure why?

Say if you change the value of the Force from 0 to 1, then the Dimensions will change to Force isn't it?
And the surface integral will become N-m^2

Anyway even though the dimension is not correct, but you can still you the result right?

The problem is when i change it to 1 and press ok it is still dimensionless and then when i take a surface integral it is showing the unit as m^2. Even when i define a new unit, the dimension is not changing.

I am not getting what the prob could be.

Can you please give me some suggestions.?

Is it possible that your file is corrupted?
What if you start a new simulation and do something simple and try checking your UDF dimension? Does it change?

actually i did that too..i tried to open a new simulation and define a simple field function from a tutorial or even try to define a unit. Its nt changing at all. If i am not able to change and i use a surface integral, its never going to given me force in newtons. I have got everything else running pretty good though.
