Settings Cyclone separator

Hi all,

I am working on a demisting cyclone separator in star ccm+. I already have a mesh working with k-omega sst and k-epsilon with one-phase. I now want to switch to two-phase. I used the lagrangian multiphase model as it is written in the user guide.

Does anyone maybe has some hints? I have read that I should use RSM (reynolds stress model) for cyclone seperators. Should I first start in k-epsilon and after some iterations I change to RSM?
Maybe someone has experiences with that? Would be great!

Thanks

Hi, Even I'm working on the cyclone in STAR CCM+. It's nice to solve for the flow field first and then proceed to the Lagrangian model following the tutorial.
to start with simply use the K-E model and then switch over the models to see which one gives a better solution. This will also help u in knowing which model works what way.

Coming to a conclusion on how much is the efficiency of the cyclone is posing a problem. I'm still finding a proper way to find it out. If you know the exact way please do let me know.
