Extracting Surface Mesh from 2D Simulation (deforming also)
Hey All,
I have a 2D mesh that I am imposing a deformation upon based on control points that I have prescribed (the geometry is valve-like structure). I would like to extract the surface of the 2D mesh and then remsesh it because the cells are starting to become slightly skewed due to the large deformation. I know StarCCM+ can extract a 3D surface mesh, but it doesn't seem to work properly with the 2D geometry. For example, I have tried to extract the 2D surface and it seems to work; but then when I import it back into StarCCM+ nothing comes up - it's as if nothing as been imported. Is anyone familiar with this? I am currently using version 7.04.011. Furthermore, I would then like to map the solution of the old geometry to the newly remeshed geometry. Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, John |
There seems to be no direct way to go back from a 2d mesh. Even importing into prostar is not possible.
The workaround is to use the mesh converters from OpenFoam (ccm26ToFoam) then 2dto3d ... When I tried this I ended up with some vertices somewhere in space and decides to start the meshing from scratch. |
Thanks for the information, Joern. I'll keep trying.
