Hi all,
I want to extract the values of the massflow of the inlet and outlet of my geometry. Can I do this by creating two new reports with 'mass flow' at the part 'inlet' and 'outlet' and then run this reports? Finally I want to see the difference what's going into it and what is coming out. Thank you! |

Make a report of ''Sum'', then select the field function of ''mass flow rate'' and select the boundaries of inlet and outlet.

ok thank you. I have an eulerian and a lagrangian phase. Can I display how much of the lagrangian phase comes to the outlet. It's about a cyclone separator. The injector of the lagrangian phase is in the inlet, as a partinjector. I now want to know how much of the injected water comes to the outlet. Is that possible?
edit: I want to check the mass balance from inlet/injector to outlet. |

You need to select the model '' Boundary Sampling'' from the Lagrangian models. This model will save the information of the particles hitting the selected boundaries. Then define the boundaries you need to have information about and also the parameter you need.
If you simulate unsteady, select ''particle count'' and if you simulate steady select '' particle flow rate''.

I'll try that. Is it right that the 'track file' saves the way of the lagrangian particles to display streamlines, e.g. and the 'boundary sampling' is for counting how many particles impact on the chosen wall?
Does the 'boundary sampling' differs between the settings for the lagrangian boundary interaction modes 'rebound' and 'escape'? In theory everythin put in the cyclone in 'escape' mode won't come to the outlet and in 'rebound' mode something or maybe everything will get to the outlet. Is that right or am I on the wrong way? |

Boundary sampling is one of the models of Lagrangian phase.
You are right, Imagine a solid particle in the air stick to a wall, then this particle is removed from the air. It is called escape. But if the particle was rebounded, then it could reach to the outlet.

ok I selected the model 'boundary sampling' and defined the boundaries and set the parameter I need. How can I now display how of the mass flow from the injector hits the wall and escapes?
edit: particle flow rate was selected automatically. But when I now make a sum report and choose 'Particle Flow Rate' and all boundaries I have this appears: Sum of Particle Flow Rate on Volume Mesh Part Value (/s) ------------------------------ ------------- Phase 1 tracks 0.000000e+00 SOLID 0.000000e+00 SOLID: INLET 0.000000e+00 SOLID: OUTLET 0.000000e+00 SOLID: WALL 0.000000e+00 Wasser 0.000000e+00 Wasser @ SOLID: INLET 0.000000e+00 Wasser @ SOLID: OUTLET 0.000000e+00 Wasser @ SOLID: WALL 0.000000e+00 ------------- Total: 0.000000e+00 Wasser= Water, it's the lagrangian phase. What am I doing wrong? |

No idea? Do I have to continue the calculation if I added the boundary sampling after some iterations?

When you want to get the sum of the particles hit the boundary, you need to select the Particle tracks.
