XY plot, temperature and time

I'm trying to make a new plot that has time on the x-axis and temperature on the y-axis.

It is a transient simulation. Somehow when I add this plot, the graph looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/bt5uUm1.png

Now the simulation has been running for almost 500 minutes, the part I use in this plot has an initial T=300K and by the end it's at T=369K.

How come my plot looks like this?

Look into the edit plot menu and see if you selected the correct part. Also look into X-type and Y-type and units. If the part is a line, you should make sure that you are using the correct 'direction' in the position option of plot edit for y-type.

Both X and Y-axis are scalar values and thus there shouldn't be a direction to worry about, should it? The part I'm using is a solid cylinder and I'd like to see a plot on how it's average temperature changed during the simulation.

Did you start the report in the beginning? otherwise it would not have history.

I don't think you want whatSTAR-CCM+ calls an "XY plot." If you:

1. make a report that get's the temperature you're interested (may use a point probe for this)
2. make a monitor that runs that report every time-step
3. make a plot that includes that monitor
4. run your simulation from the beginning

That should give you the result you're looking for.
