HELLO

My name is Jerry Thomas. I am doing a Project on Hull-Propeller interaction in Starccm.
recently I am encountering problems with analysis for Hull, due to which i cannot proceed further in my project. The problem i am facing is generation of waves in hull analysis. i am not able to generate waves for froud number 0.26.
Kindly can some one help me to proceed further in my project.

Hi Jerry,

Could you describe the problem you're having in a bit more detail?

You say that you cannot generate waves for a Froude number of 0.26. Can you generate waves in different conditions? What sort of error messages are you getting?

Also, there's a tutorial in the help manual titled "DFBI: Boat in Head Waves" that might be helpful.

hello sir,
i am not actually familiar with wave generation in starccm. and also i am not sure whether the waves generated are by the hull or whether they are sea waves. we are actually doing analysis for kriso container ship and kp505 propeller. the propeller analysis was over, but i dont know how to proceed further with the hull,is there any specific tuitorial for it?? also what are the input values required for wave generation??

There is a tutorial for this type of analysis. Search for "DFBI: Boat in Head Waves" in the help manual.

Whether you simulate the ship in a flat water condition (where the only wave are those created by hull) or in a sea-state with waves is completely up to you.

for the hull , i ran one analysis using 0.89million cells mesh size and without generating waves. i was supposed to get a value of 50N as resistance force but i got 110N.the analysis was done using AKN turbulence model. what has to done further to improve the results?

Are you sure you have the correct sinkage and trim?
Do you have sufficient domain size?
Maybe try different turbulence model?
Does you simulation converge?

i am having problem in generating multiphase in my project. air and water are used as the two phases.vof condition was used. but my results are not converging. can someone help me out.do i need to create udf for this problem.
the top surface of my domain and hull are touching or in the same plane. do i need any other inputs values.
aslo what is the importance of froude number??why do we generally use that value??

hello

i am willing to work on hull propeller interaction.

please tell me the feasibility of the project in Ansys-Fluent.

is it possible to simulate the Ship having rotating propeller behind in the Fluent?

and find out the drag

Nil
