Help importing parasolid file into Star-CCM+
 
Hello,

I am trying to import a wind tunnel with a wing inside of it, that I made in solidworks, into Star-CCM+. I choose the Import Surface Mesh button and choose the parasolid file. But when I go to the tree under Geometry, then Parts, it is showing my part as Assembly 1 and not the name of my actual part. I do not want it to be an assembly because that creates four different regions. What am I doing wrong that it is importing my part as an assembly? Sorry, I am new to CFD software. Thank you for your time!

Importing as a parasolid will keep the CAD part tree. Remember that the block you create to be the wind tunnel will also be its own part.

You have several options.

When you create the regions from the parts, select one region for all parts.

You can take the 4 parts within the assembly and combine them, and you'll be good. You'll end up needing to do the same thing with the wind tunnel block.

Import as an igs, stl, whatever, and it will come in as one part.

Select all parts - right click - "assign parts to regions"

The default will be "one region for all parts". That's what you want.

I still seem to be doing something incorrect... I attached two images, one of what my tree looks like and another of what it should look like. Thank you for your help.

If you select bodies 1-4 you can send all of them to regions at the same time. Right here you can specify that all 4 parts will be part of a single region, and probably 1 boundary per part surface. You will get a region called Region 1, and boundaries that are each surface for each part.

If you're concerned with the parts being separate in the parts tab then just select all four, right click, and select combine. You can do the same thing with the regions.
