Hello everyone,
I am trying to model a flare network on starccm+ (see the geometry on the attached file). I did "Generate surface mesh" and i got the error message on the attached file. It seems that my surface is not closed. So I did a surface repear to identify the problems. I got several problems as face quality, face proximity, non manifold edges and non manifold vertices. The probleme is that I don't know how to fix those mistakes, and I can't generate the volume mesh since I didn't fix this. Thank you very much for your help. Clémence |

hey, i don't know if it will help you but first Focus on free edges in my opinion. To repair click on the number on the Count list and all the problematic part would appear in pink. Then if it's for example problematic faces (that are overcreated) select them one by one or with ctrl or with the Zone selection tool and delete them. Then you will have to fill the holes you created with this Action or the ones made by the Software when importing the geometry. To do so use the hole filling tool. anyway you will see it Comes by doing ( i am not a pro with star ccm+ but this part is easily understandable) you have to Play with edges selection or face selection Tools and with the repairing Tools after you have to try and be Aware that sometimes you will do it wrong but ctrl+z will be usefull. hope it will help you good luck

Thank you Vincent for your answer. I try what you tell me to do. I tried to display the face proximity, and the problem is in pink as you said. But this is just a line, and I don't know what to do with this...

okay in selection control can you tick edges instead of faces and click on the Count number again to see what are your repair Options?

I am not sur of what i am going to say but you should really Focus on free edges and non manifold edges repairing and not bother too much with the others. I explain myself i am a newby on star ccm+ so i am still learning but on every Forums and with my coworkers we don't repair face proximity Problems when they are really small like yours and during the Simulation we have no Problem but i assume it depends on what you are doing and i am not qualified to Detail it :-) maybe the user guide or someone else here.
