Hello user community,
I am working on comparing designs for automotive brake odor issue. Thus far I have been visualizing streamlines released near the brake area and tracking if it is getting drawn into the HVAC unit.

I need to quantify the number of streamlines that are getting drawn into the HVAC unit. I am doing it visually at the moment but if any of you know of a way to do this numerically in CCM+ please give me some hint.

Having this quantified will help us to compare designs and rank them more precisely.

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

The 'number of streamlines' reaching an area is a completely subjective metric. This would depend on where you define your streamlines, how many you start with and not tell you anything about the 'amount of odor' reaching a location.

I would suggest that you look in to multi-component flows where you can specify fluids of different species and then examine the mass fraction entering your HVAC system. If your particles are big enough you can probably even get away with multi-phase flow (such as Euler/Lagrangian). However, something tells me your particle size would be too small to be modeled accurately using this approach.
