Howdy:

I am wondering if it is possible to only remesh select region(s) in a .sim file that contains multiple regions.

For my run, I have two separate regions. The meshes created from them are also separate. One of the regions has a fixed geometry, while I will be changing the other through import part / assign to region. Both parts take some time to mesh and I have a lot of variants so I would like to save some time by not meshing the region that always remains the same. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance, Gerry

The easy method is to disable the mesh continuum on the region whose mesh you wish to keep. Then, all mesh controls disappear and the SIM file retains the latest volume mesh which was created. I use this often in the same scenario you are describing.

Alternatively, you may get the functionality you are looking for using parts-based meshing and defining two separate PBM operations. I've not done this though, just an idea to look into.

Note that in both cases, if your meshes do interact and have interfaces, they will no longer be conformal when meshing separately like this. The solution would not change much (depending on what the interface was transferring), but it's a concern to consider.

yeah, the solutions are incredible and thanks for sharing. I tried it and it worked. Later on I realized that it was better to spend the extra few minutes to mesh both parts. In this way I can start off with a smaller .sim file (that I am running in batch and I don't have to save the mesh. I guess it the original way wasn't what I wanted afterall. But I learnt something from your answer, and I appreciate your reply.

Gerry.
