Hello

What is the optimum size of the rotating domain (which is the interface b/w rotaing and stationary regions) around the rotating part, while simulating rotation using MRF approach. Should i use sufficiently large domain or very closely hugging domain to the rotating body or it depends upon the shape and geometry of rotating body !

I always try to keep the rotating flow within the rotating reference frame as much as possible. If simulating an axial fan I think that it is best to hug the rotating body on the upstream side, but extend as far downstream as possible. It is questionable if this is really necessary, but that is how we do it.

Do the rotating domain must be cylindrical when I use MRF approach?

Hi Ping, thanks.

Another question, it is needed to have an interface to use cyclicAMI boundary condition? The tutorial mixerVessel2D using simpleFoam, there is no interface between the domains. Is that fine?

Do you have references to indicate concerning MRF?

it looks like you are using openfoam rather than star so if this is correct please move to the correct forum since I imagine its mrf methods and rules are quite different
