Hello everyone,

I'm an italian student of aerospacial engineering (so, first of all, I'd like to apologize for my imperfect english ^__^"); I'm working with StarCCM+ for my thesis, and I'm having some difficulties with CAD importation...

I usually work on 2 computers:
-on my notebook I'm using a StarCCM 32bit version, and I'm able to import files from Rhinoceros, importing them as IGS files: no problems at all.

-on my other computer (with Windows7 64bit, 12Gb RAM) I'm trying to use a 64bit version of StarCCM, and here's the problem: the software starts, but when I try to import the same IGS files, it gives an error message...

Do you have any ideas of the motivations?
I'm asking because I need StarCCM to run in this computer, on my notebook I have not enough RAM...

Do I need to export from Rhinoceros with some other file extension?
If I'd choose to run on my 64bit computer the 32bit version of StarCCM (which I'm sure will work), should I expect some difficulties and problems?
Will I be able to use all the extra RAM (which I need to, because I'm simulating a sailboat, and my notebook has only 2Gb of RAM, not enough...)?

Thank you very much!

Or you can import in your Laptop and save the .sim file only with the imported geometry. After that, open this .sim file in your computer. Are you using the newest version of STAR-CCM+, 5.02?

Another way is try to export in the parasolid format .x_t, it always works finer then the .igs!
