Hi all,

I have obtained a series of png files from a simulation. I would like to generate an animation from all of these files.

What kind of tools can be used for that purpose? I am using Windows..

I have installed the Irfanview onto my computer but do not know how to use it to generate an animation file. I would like to use it in a PPT..

Could you give me some instructions to achieve that?

Hi Lawrence,

sorry I am wrong. You cannot create animated gifs with Irfanview. You can build a slideshow and save it as an executable file.

File / Slideshow
Slide advancement automatic after xxx seconds.
Add pictures
Save slideshow as EXE.

I usually build animations with the ImageMagick package using linux. There is also a windows port. But i have not tested the windows version.

I have got one way to do it. Maybe it is a little bit complex..

Firstly the png files can be obtained from starccm+;
then the png files are converted to gif by IrfanView;
then the animation can be obtained by MS Gif animator.

That's pretty easy. First you import the pictures, then you multiselect them all and drag them down to the timeline. Then from the file menu there's save movie available.

You can use tools>options>advanced to speed up or slow down the movie.
