Star-CCM+ 32 in W7 64

Can you help with this question.

If run the 32bit CCM+ in W7/64 I can use a big swap file than the 4 GB limit for 32 bit O.S., this help me with message "Insufficient virtual memory".

Itīs correct.

Thanks, Marcelo

Will not help. The error message you are getting says that all physical memory is being used and more virtual memory is necessary. Only two solutions for this - add more physical memory or increase virtual memory (swap space). Be aware that while adding swap space may work, it will slow the analysis down significantly, because now you have I/O to contend with. Your quick option is to decrease the cell size.

Thanks Tom.

New question. If have 12GB RAM in W7/64.
Is possible run CCM+(32b) in W7/64 using all the memory ?

Best regards, Marcelo

I don't think so. 32 bit systems are set up to use only 4 gig memory (XP will only address 3.5 gig). Since you are running a 64 bit version of WINDOWS 7, why not use the 64 bit version of CCM+? It is available from CD-adapco's download site. I have 64 bit WINDOWS 7 and the 64 bit CCM loaded on my laptop. It has 8 gig memory. I just completed a job with 6.1 million cells with no problem. It is easy to install.

Full Capacity

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my Star CCM + 64 bits

It only uses 6% of full capacity. How I can fix it?

I have version 4.4.1911

Why not use 5.04 ? Works fine on my Windows 7 64 laptop.

@Roberto: Too small Swap file? Then limits windows the virtual space...

32 Bit can only handle 2GB per thread - run parallel to use more. Mesh per region, split the regions etc.
