How do we set a face as interior (as we do in fluent) in STARCCM+?
I need this face to map the mesh and monitor the values during run.

You could create an interface on the surface.

A simpler alternative, if it works, is to create a derived part on the appropriate plane, thresholding as necessary. You can then generate a report based on that and a monitor or plot derived from the report.

Thanks for the reply Robert.

but my concern is with the mesh generation. I need a hangine face in the middle of the fluid domain on which the mesh is aligned. i. e. face with the nodes mounted on them. Hope you understood my problem.

If you need nodes on a specific plane then you will need to create an interface within the model.

Why do you need nodes, why wouldn't a plane suffice?

Hi Roberts,

can you please tell me the method to create interfaces in ccm+ within a region?

I tried creating interface and defined the zero thickness face as baffle. But, when i ran the surface remesh command, it is not working.

The CAD model would need the two sides of the interface (common surface/common perimeter) to be explicitly defined.

The split volumes will come in as different bodies generally which need to be pointed at the same mesh continua, I believe.

You can then link the sides of the interface as an in-place interface.

Obviously this requires you to know the zones of interest upfront and if you had a large number could rapidly become tedious. That is why the use of derived parts to track quantities has some significant advantages.

Hello Robert,

Thanks for your timely help. I was able to resolve the problem by defining in-line interfaces. Initially, i tried it by defining the interfaces as baffles which caused problems for me earlier.

Thanks again,
UB
