You can use GIMP (GNU Image Maniuplation Project, aka open source Photoshop) to do it in a fairly simple manner. Just google "GIMP animated gif tutorial"

Alternatively if you are on Windows, Paint .NET is an excellent image program that can do GIFs. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php...with-paintnet/
