Has anybody tried to validate this experiment in STAR CCM+? Papers and full documentation can be found at :

http://wind.nrel.gov/amestest/

And if so, were you able to match the pre-stall cases at less than 10m/s of wind velocity?

The case in particular is at 7m/s wind speed, 72 RPM, for which the experimental torque (power) is approx. 800Nm (6kW), and the drag is 1150N.

There is a FLUENT study that claims to have done it

http://yrc.utcb.ro/p/YRC_2010_THCE_Razvan_Mahu.pdf

They're pre-stall data matches experiment, but they also use a hybrid mesh. Most other validations in the literature were done using BEM codes and they compare well with experiment.

Thanks.
