Hi,
at the moment I work with the ccm+ dfbi boat tutorial. In this tutorial the symmetry is used for the model. In FEM the mass is divide in half for symmetry. Is this analog in CFD or must I calculate with the total mass? alfaben Last edited by alfaben; September 5, 2011 at 03:32. |

if you think about what the hull looks like, you will realise that the pressure forces are only acting on just half the hull in this case, so the mass should be halved - pretty basic stuff.

Would you pay the full price for a half glas of beer?
Put the full mass on a half model is a good way to find out how to sink a ship. |
