Problem generating IsoSurfaces
3 Attachment(s)
Hi guys,
i have got problems with generating IsoSurfaces. In the following u can see my fluid volume. It is closed with the following blocked system: umin = Perio_a1 umax = Perio_a2 vmin= = Imp_Hub;Int_b1_Hub;Int_c1_Hub vmax=Imp_Shroud;Int_c1_Shroud;Int_d1_Shroud wmin = int_a1 wmax = int_d1 In the attachement you can see a few pictures. The problem is that, when i want to create a isosurface, it always says that ther is no corner found, Boundaries #0,#3,#4 do not intersect. What is the problem? My volumina looks closed.... Thanks for help |
Could explain more clearly.
An isosurface is a 3D surface at a particular value for a calculated quantity. This does not appear very relevant to the problem you are discussing here. Isossurfaces do, I believe, know anything about geometry but are calculated in a cellwise manner. |
Ok, then another way to explain my problem:
I want to create a plane in the shape of hub, or shroud, or inlet and so on...I thought I have to do this by isosurfaces |
Any reason you wouldn't use a section - either plane of cylindrical (with appropriate co-ordinate system)?
You can create sections by using isosurfaces of centroid values but in this case it would not seem the preferred manner. |
Have you tried "cell surface" (also a derived part)?

You are correct to use the iso-surface for this task (since you dont want a plane section), but you first need to setup the block mapped coordinate system to create the interpolated values across your grid on which to base the iso-surface. This is explained well in the Help tutorial topic Tutorial Guide > Turbomachinery Tutorials > Single Row Tutorial > Visualizing the Solution.

To be honest you have never said what you are really trying to achieve here, merely that one step has appeared to have failed.

Yes the AxialSingle Row Tutorial is exact what i want to do....just mapping of the new coordinate system is not working and i do not understand why.... Here again: umin = Perio_a1 umax = Perio_a2 vmin= = Imp_Hub;Int_b1_Hub;Int_c1_Hub vmax=Imp_Shroud;Int_c1_Shroud;Int_d1_Shroud wmin = int_a1 wmax = int_d1 |
