Transient analysis of particle flow with Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI)

Hello!

I would like to simulate the following scenario:

- flow over an oscillator (beam) -> Fluid-Structure-Interaction (FSI)
- particle tracking during oscillation of the beam
- capture (immobilization) when particle touches the beam's surface

I know, that particles can be introduced and tracked in post-processing. However, my scenario requires a simultaneous simulation of flow and particle flow. Furthermore, the particles should be captured and counted when they hit the beam's surface.

Would it be possible to simulate this scenario with Star-ccm+?

Thank you!

Cheers,

Julian

hi,
For particles you need to introduce the lagrangian model in your phisycs model.
Then, specify the characteristics of the particle in the lagrangian model.
I am not sure about counting the number of immobilized particles, but try to see boundary values for particles, get help from the toturial.
Good luck

Hi!

Thanks for the response. I'll use CFX now. I found a way to implement particles as a discrete phase.

Cheers,

Julian
