I created CAD geometry within STAR-CCM+. Problem is when I saved them and later wanted to edit the 3D-CAD geomerty part again. The server will automatically exit and present an error like follows:
java.net.SocketException:Connection reset

and in the Output window it delivers:
Server connection failed. This is usually due to a fatal error in the server.

This happened to almost every modell I built within STAR-CCM+. For other parts in the .sim file they all remain fine. But I just can not reedit the CAD part. Is this a bug of this software or anybody can tell me how to get rid of this error.

Thanks!

Which version do you use? Windows or Linux? 32 or 64bit? Does this issue occur when opening the model on the same machine or a different? Can you make sure, this issure only occurs when doing something with the CAD modeller?

The software version is 6.04.014. I use Win64 and the model is opened on the same machine. I've tried with different ways of saving the file. Now I would be sure it must be the error within the CAD modelling.

I rebuilt the CADmodel again and it works fine. But if I made some modifications to the model, the error appeared once again. I would say that the software may be very sensitive with modifications, which can be improved in the futur development.

I'm sorry, I wasn't able to reproduce a similar error. I'm using v6.04.016 and never had an error with modifying an existing model. Further more I'm using the CAD modeler since v5.02 and never got a problem similar to your description.

Could you give a detailed description what steps you did? Does this problem also occurs on a simple model or does it need to be a complicated, confidential geometry for this problem to occur?
